The 12 Universal Laws You Need to Know
You may not have known that there are actual laws of the universe—but there are. Here on Earth, we follow 12 of them. Of course, there are many more laws that exist in other realms and other dimensions, but for our purposes, we’re going to stick to the 12 universal laws that apply to life here.
When you understand these laws—even just a little bit—they can really help you navigate your life with more ease, clarity, and flow.
Most people have already heard of the Law of Attraction. (Like the Taylor Swift or Beyoncé of Universal Laws.) It’s the most popular one, thanks to books and movies and all the buzz around it. But the thing to remember is: these laws are always in effect. Always. Constantly working behind the scenes.
Whether you’re aware of them or not, they’re doing their thing. The key is learning to work with them instead of against them.
Some of the laws I’m going to talk about today might sound familiar—maybe you've heard them before but didn’t realize they were actually universal laws. So let’s dive in.
#1 - The Law of Divine Oneness
This one is foundational.
The Law of Divine Oneness says that every single one of us is connected. You, me, your barista, the trees, your ex, the moon. We are all part of the divine, and by extension, part of the universe. However you like to frame it, the truth is: we are all part of each other.
I know it’s hard to wrap your head around that sometimes—especially when people trigger us, or when we feel disconnected or hurt—but this law is always at play.
If you can look at another person and imagine, even just for a moment, that they are a part of you... it changes things.
It can help you soften. It helps you stop judging so harshly. It invites compassion.
And I know—this idea of being so connected can sound a little daunting. But think about the last time someone called you right as you were about to call them. Or when you were just thinking about someone, and they suddenly popped into your inbox. Those little moments? That’s Divine Oneness in action. That’s the energetic connection we all share.
#2 - The Law of Vibration
This is the one I talk about a lot when I say, “raise your vibration.”
Everything—literally everything—has a vibration. Everything is energy. Your emotions, your thoughts, your body, your environment—it’s all vibrating at a certain frequency. And that frequency is always shifting.
So if you think about it this way: emotions like fear, anger, jealousy, and sadness are low-vibrational frequencies. On the other hand, emotions like love, joy, compassion, and gratitude? Those are high-vibrational.
The higher your vibration, the more aligned you are with the things you actually want in life.
But let me be really clear—this doesn’t mean you should be afraid of feeling low-vibe emotions. Life is not about being high-vibe all the time. That’s not realistic, and honestly, that’s not even healthy.
What matters is your willingness to move through your emotions—to not get stuck. Grief, sadness, anger... they’re all part of being human. The problem comes when we resist those feelings or try to numb them out.
And that’s where things like alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes, binge-watching, sleeping all day, or anything else we use to avoid what we’re feeling can actually start to lower our vibration.
These aren’t inherently “bad” things. But when we use them to bypass our emotions instead of moving through them, that’s when we run into trouble.
We are mostly going to be in a constant state of back and forth when it comes to our emotions and our energetic state. But the more time you spend in the higher energies, the less likely it's going to be that the the little things are going to get to you.
Have gratitude for all of the things that you have going on in your life, even the challenging situations, because those are always things that are going to teach you lessons that you may need to know for the future. This is why you might often hear people say that meditation is the key, because meditation is a really good tool to be able to bring your emotions, your energy, and your thoughts back into balance.
Your energy doesn’t lie. You can’t fake it to the universe.
If you’re holding onto something heavy, that’s okay. You’re not broken. But the universe is going to respond to the vibration you're actually holding—not the one you want to project.
So the work becomes: feel it, heal it, release it. And from there, your vibration naturally begins to rise again.
#3 - The Law of Correspondence
The Law of Correspondence is all about reflection. The universe is always mirroring back to you how you’re showing up—through your relationships, your emotions, your environment, your patterns.
If you’re constantly running into conflict, or you keep attracting the same kind of situation over and over again, that’s a reflection of something within you. It’s not a punishment. It’s information.
It’s the universe saying, “Hey... are you paying attention?”
This law also shows up in patterns—especially repetitive ones. Ever notice how the same theme keeps popping up in different areas of your life? That’s correspondence.
And then there are the subtle signs—repeating numbers, shapes, messages, little synchronicities that catch your attention. That’s also Correspondence at work.
If you’re consistently showing up in gratitude, joy, or peacefulness, you’re going to see more of that energy reflected in your life. If you’re stuck in frustration, judgment, or self-doubt, you might notice a loop of experiences reinforcing that.
If you keep ending up in the same kind of relationship, job dynamic, or emotional spiral, that’s the universe tapping you on the shoulder like, “Hey… ready to look at this now?”
The best way to work with this law? Awareness. Just start noticing. What’s showing up over and over again? What are you attracting? The minute you become aware, you create the possibility to transmute that energy and shift into something new.
And speaking of transmutation...
#4 - The Law of Attraction
Ah yes. The fan favorite. I almost don’t even need to cover this law. I would suggest you just put Esther Hicks or Abraham Hicks in your YouTube search and you will get thousands of videos that will explain it in ways that are uplifting. I put on her videos quite often for a little pick me up.
The Law of Attraction says: you attract what you are. Not what you say you want. Not what you hope for. But what you’re actually vibrating with—emotionally, mentally, energetically.
So if you're constantly in judgment, sadness, or resentment, you're going to pull in more of the same. The universe responds to your core frequency. You want to change your reality? Change your frequency.
But here's where this gets interesting: those things you don’t want? They’re not just annoyances. They’re little breadcrumbs showing you what you do want.
So if you keep saying, “I don’t want to feel this way anymore,” beautiful. That awareness is the starting point. Now flip it: what do you want to feel instead?
I always suggest starting with emotion over physical stuff. Sure, you can manifest money or a new car—but if what you really want is peace, or purpose, or joy, start there.
Let the universe decide how it wants to deliver that feeling to you. Leave the “how” open. When you trust like that, the results are usually better than anything you could have planned.
#5 - The Law of Inspired Action
This law is so important—and often overlooked.
It’s not enough to sit on your meditation cushion, journal your manifestations, and wait for them to show up. You have to do something. You have to meet the universe halfway.
That action doesn’t have to be huge. Sometimes it’s picking up the phone. Sometimes it’s saying yes to something that scares you. Sometimes it’s finally resting because that’s the guidance you’re getting.
The point is—inspired action means the kind of action that feels aligned. You’re not forcing or hustling. You’re allowing, receiving, listening, and then taking the next step from that place.
And sometimes, inspired action is just doing what makes you happy. Play a video game. Take yourself out to dinner. Nap like a cat in a sunbeam. If it lifts your frequency and fills your cup, it counts. Take the next best step.
#6 - The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy
This is the alchemist's law.
Energy cannot be destroyed or created—it can only be transformed. This law is about your ability to shift and redirect energy in your life.
Let’s say you're deep in jealousy. You don’t need to judge yourself for it. But you can transmute it. How? You stop the story. You interrupt the loop. You ask: what would bring me into balance right now?
You can't get to joy and happiness and non-judgment from a state of sadness and jealousy or despair. You have to come to that mid range first in order to launch you into those higher energies. It's almost like taking stepping stones. If you are able to come to that place of balance and then transmute the energy, rewrite the story and figure out what it is that will make you happy. Once you do that, you're able to transmute that jealous energy, maybe into something that is compassionate for another person or for something that somebody is going through.
One of the most important things that I have learned in my life is that you never know what another person is going through. It is almost impossible to see absolutely every detail of another person's life, so you don't know why they're going to be reacting the way that they are, or you don't know why they're in a state of emotion that they're in.
Once you're there, you can shift again. Maybe that jealousy transmutes into compassion—for yourself or for the other person. Maybe it becomes fuel for something creative or courageous.
And remember: everyone is carrying something. We don’t always see it, but people often build walls or wear masks to survive what they’re going through.
So if you can come back to the first law—Divine Oneness—and remember our shared humanity, you’re already doing the work of transmutation. Gratitude and compassion are two of the fastest ways to shift energy.
#7 - The Law of Cause and Effect (aka Karma)
This one can be tricky.
Every action has a reaction. Every choice sends out a ripple. And those ripples don’t always stay in this lifetime.
Sometimes you’re balancing karma from other lifetimes—especially when you’re in a relationship or situation that feels wildly imbalanced and you can't make sense of it. So you might have somebody in your life right now where things seem very, very imbalanced. And there are times when the reason for that is because you are burning off karma from another lifetime. So think about this as transmutation on a grander scale. You are not just transmuting the energy within yourself, you are transmuting the energy globally based on the people you came in contact with in previous lifetimes.
This is where it helps to zoom out. You’re not just transmuting energy for yourself. You’re doing it on behalf of the collective. You’re closing loops, ending cycles, bringing healing to generational and soul-level wounds.
So if something feels hard and you don’t know why—it’s okay. It might not be yours alone. But your willingness to face it, love through it, and stay conscious is making a massive impact.
Now, not to worry, we constantly work on these things in our lives without even realizing that we're doing it. There are certain things, though, that may take a little bit of extra care and awareness, and that is what I do when I do the Akashic Record readings for people is to help them identify maybe those areas of karma in which they need to balance them, or in which they need to let go of something.
The messages that I have gotten regarding karma have been that it's actually much bigger than we realize, and it's because it's not something that's like an eye for an eye. It actually has to do with our individual lessons that we're learning as well. So it is an incredibly complex network of energetic connections that create this law of karma, that karmic energy will always find a balance, no matter how it needs to happen.
It will find its balance. Now, when we incarnate into lives on this earth, prior to our incarnations we will make decisions based on that karma. So maybe we decide that we are going to experience something specific, not only to balance that karma, but then also to help us along our spiritual journey and to learn the lessons that we need to learn.
That particular action might be threefold. You might have so many different things that you are accomplishing just with this one particular decision, or this one act, or this one event that will happen to you. If you have events in your life that you question, or that you're wondering why this particular event happened. Feel free to book a session because I can help you actually discover the reason for that event happening in your life.
There's no reason to sit there and ponder and wonder and stress about why did something happen. What we want to look at is what you're learning from it, what you're taking away from it, and how you will move forward in your life after this karma has been paid, after this lesson has been learned, and see how it has propelled you into another stage of your spiritual journey.
#8 - The Law of Compensation
The Law of Compensation is all about the energetic return on what you give. In simple terms: what you put out, you will receive back. There’s a recurring theme in these laws, and it’s balance. When you treat a friend to dinner and they pick up the check next time, that’s balance. If you donate to a charity regularly, you might start noticing a positive shift in your career—maybe a salary increase or new opportunities. The energy you give flows back to you, often in unexpected ways.
This doesn’t mean things have to be balanced with the same person. It means there must be an energetic equilibrium between giving and receiving in your life as a whole. For many of us (myself included!), we’ve lived as over-givers—always showing up, offering help, sharing our energy and resources. And sometimes, that giving comes not from pure love, but from a desire to be liked, accepted, or needed. This goes into people pleasing and codependency. (I am raising my hand here because i’m a recovering people pleaser)
Here’s the truth: love doesn’t have to be earned. Love simply is. You are worthy of it by existing. Full stop.
If you find it uncomfortable when someone tries to give to you—whether that’s a compliment, dinner, or support—it’s worth asking: How open am I to receiving?
Do you downplay praise? Struggle with accepting help? Reject offers with a “No, I can’t let you do that”? These are signs of imbalance.
When you give too much and don’t allow yourself to receive, you drain your energy reserves. This depletion can manifest emotionally, mentally, and even physically as exhaustion or illness. If you're unable to receive, others may unconsciously pull away. Why? Because balanced relationships—romantic, professional, platonic—thrive on the dance of giving and receiving. If you have built up a wall to not receive then it goes against this very important law.
Here’s a little practice: next time someone compliments you—maybe they say, “I love your shoes!”—try simply responding with, “Thank you.” That’s it. No deflection, no rushing to return the compliment. Just receive. It’s a small but powerful step toward letting abundance, connection, and love flow in.
If you’re doing all the manifesting rituals—journaling, vision boards, affirmations—and wondering why things aren’t arriving, ask yourself: Am I truly open to receiving?
Blocks to receiving often come down to self-worth, which is connected to the solar plexus chakra. If this resonates with you, I highly recommend exploring some guided meditations focused on the solar plexus. YouTube has plenty to choose from—just search “solar plexus chakra meditation.” Doing this inner work helps clear the path for receiving all the goodness life wants to give you.
#9 - The Law of Relativity
This law reminds us that everything in life is relative—it’s all about perspective. What brings you joy might not do the same for someone else. What feels like a major challenge to one person might barely register for another. The takeaway? There’s no universal measuring stick.
It’s easy to compare our path to others and judge: “Their life looks better than mine,” or “They don’t deserve that success.” But the truth is, we have no idea what another soul has gone through. We don’t know their lessons, their pain, or what karmic journey they’re navigating. And the reverse is also true—they don’t know yours. I have seen in the Akashic Records, people having “Vacation” lifetimes after a particularly difficult previous lifetime. Sometimes we need those to recover our energy.
This law invites us to step out of comparison and judgment and into self-awareness. Your experience is valid. Your path is yours. Everything in your life is unfolding to support your personal evolution—even when it’s hard to see in the moment.
And here’s where it gets even deeper: this relativity spans lifetimes. Maybe in this life you haven’t walked a certain path, but chances are, you have in another. The soul doesn’t forget—even if the conscious mind does. We’ve all been the student and the teacher, the villain and the hero. We’ve lived the full spectrum.
So when you find yourself in conflict—whether it’s in a personal relationship or watching the chaos of global politics—try to remember this: everyone is learning. Everyone is doing what they can from their level of awareness and experience.
You don’t have to agree. You don’t have to stay connected. But you can choose compassion.
Next time someone challenges your worldview, instead of reacting, you might pause and ask: What could this situation be teaching me? or I wonder what they might be going through?
Maybe it’s teaching you boundaries. Maybe it’s showing you what you don’t want so you can clarify what you do. Maybe it’s simply reminding you to stop engaging in social media comment wars. (A lesson in and of itself.)
And when you soften your energy, you create space for others to do the same. That shift starts with you.
#10 - The Law of Polarity
This law is such a beautiful follow-up because it speaks directly to opposites. We live in a dualistic world—light and shadow, right and wrong, love and fear. And the Law of Polarity teaches us that these opposites are necessary. One defines the other.
Think about it: how would you know what peace feels like if you’ve never experienced chaos? How can you fully embrace joy if you’ve never known sorrow?
Every contrast in your life helps clarify your desires. It shows you who you are, what you value, and what you want to create. Even the moments of frustration or resistance are part of the process—they help fine-tune your vision.
And just like we touched on with the Law of Relativity, polarity isn’t a reason to judge or separate—it’s an invitation to evolve. The more aware you are of what you don’t want, the more powerfully you can call in what you do want.
So if you’re navigating a tough season or feeling like you’re surrounded by energies you’d rather avoid, ask yourself: What is this teaching me about my own desires? What new clarity is this contrast offering me?
There are golden nuggets in the polarity. You just have to be willing to look for it.
#11 - The Law of Rhythmic Energy
If you were to zoom in on your day-to-day life, moment by moment, it would probably look a bit like a radio wave—little peaks and valleys, squiggling up and down like a rollercoaster. That rhythm, those natural highs and lows, are part of what this law is all about.
Now, how dramatic those ups and downs feel will depend on a couple of things: first, the lessons your soul agreed to work on in this lifetime (yep, your soul contract plays a part). Second, it depends on your own energetic makeup and how much inner work you’ve done—like raising your vibration and aligning with your higher self.
If we didn’t have rhythm in life—if it was all just flatlined and predictable—our spiritual growth would probably be pretty stagnant. Life might feel a little boring. The Law of Rhythmic Energy reminds us that the ups and downs are meant to be there. They're constant. But how we move through them—that’s what really matters.
So, when a big challenge shows up, do we let it define the next five years of our lives? Or do we allow ourselves to feel it, learn from it, and keep going—changed, yes, but not stuck? Everyone goes through those hard moments. It’s not about avoiding the lows—it’s about learning to ride the wave.
In my experience, a joyful and peaceful life doesn’t mean no peaks or valleys. It means they’re not so extreme. It means creating a little more steadiness, a little more ease in your emotional world. That doesn’t make you immune to grief or heartbreak, but it does give you the strength to move through it with more grace.
And that's what you want to have a majority of the time. Now, that's not going to prevent bad things from happening. It's just it's part of life. People are going to die. You may lose friends. You may grow apart. You may get a divorce. There might be things in your life that happen that are really sad and really awful and, and take a really long time to really get over.
Sometimes we don't fully get over those experiences because, as I said, they do shape who you become. And it is 100% up to you how that shapes you and what that turns you into. So are you going to take that experience and learn from it, or are you just going to brood on that particular situation and let it consume you?
The choice is completely yours, and I know it doesn't feel like a choice in the moment, especially when you are going through deep grief or pain. But it is a choice at a certain point. Once you're able to transmute that energy, it does become easier and you can start to see the reason for that experience in your life.
#12 - The Law of Masculine and Feminine Energies
This final law is a big one—and a beautiful one.
Every single person, no matter their gender or orientation, holds both masculine and feminine energies. It’s not about biology—it’s about energy. Think of yin and yang, or the constant dance between giving and receiving. Your feminine energy is your receptive side—resting, receiving, nurturing. Your masculine energy is your action-taking side—doing, achieving, moving forward.
And each of us tends to lean more heavily into one than the other, often depending on our life experiences. For example, when I started out as a young designer in a male-dominated field, I leaned hard into my masculine energy—pushing, hustling, proving myself. And when I started my own business, that energy just kept going. But what I didn’t realize at the time was how imbalanced I had become.
When we live too far in one energy for too long, it throws us off center. True spiritual alignment is about honoring both energies—knowing when to take bold action and when to lean back and receive. Knowing when to plan and push, and when to trust and flow.
You can take this even further by looking at the difference between Divine and Distorted energies. Divine Masculine energy is strong, clear, grounded. Divine Feminine is intuitive, loving, magnetic. But distorted masculine energy looks like domination, control, aggression. Distorted feminine can show up as manipulation, passivity, or self-sacrifice.
If you've been noticing some of the chaos in the world right now, chances are you're witnessing distorted energies coming to the surface. And while it can feel overwhelming, it’s actually part of a larger healing process. You can’t transmute what you can’t see. So the distortion rises in order to be released. It’s a necessary part of coming back into balance.
So how do we start balancing this within ourselves?
One way is to simply start paying attention. Ask yourself: Am I moving from my Divine Feminine or Masculine energy—or am I stuck in a distorted version? Am I acting out of love and trust, or fear and control? This kind of self-awareness is the first step toward healing, not just for ourselves, but for the collective.
Because here’s the thing: the pendulum always swings. Sometimes wildly. But eventually, it finds its center again. So if you’ve been feeling a little off or too far in one direction, know that you can come back to balance.
And if you're working with the 12 Laws of the Universe, you already have the tools to do it.
You don’t need to jump from fear to love overnight. It’s okay to take your time. Maybe today you move from irritation to curiosity. That’s enough. The laws aren’t about perfection—they’re about process. And the more you practice, the more you’ll start to see the shifts—subtle at first, and then everything starts to change.
Thank you so much for tuning in. I hope this series helped illuminate how these universal laws are always at play in our lives. If you would like to listen to my podcast episode on manifesting you can to that here.
Sending you tons of love,
